So for the past few weeks, I've been watching loads of documentaries. I think I was just lazy to study and I like watching TV so I just put them together so I felt less unproductive hehe.

But watching all those documentaries just made me worry. A lot.

I've been writing an essay on Malthus' population theory, which is basically: as population grows exponentially and the means of subsistence arithmetically, one day the world will just run out of food and people will die blahblah.. so watching those stupid documentaries just amplified my worries even more.

There was one about the food we eat and how unhealthy we were. I went to Whole Foods the next day. My diet now consists of nuts, prunes for antioxidants, more tuna and less take aways (that's a lie).

Then I watched one about paedophilic priests (don't ask -___-) and started worrying about my own children (next time lah). First the food, now horny priests? I decided to stop watching them for awhile. Who knows, if I watch March of the Penguins, I'll even feel sad for birds.

Yesterday, during tutorial, my tutor was telling us how to finish off our environmental essays and he said that it was okay to conclude with a bunch of questions, it was okay NOT to have a conclusion - we don't know all the answers and we don't know all the circumstances (super lightbulb moment - never thought I'd get enlightened in school -__-).

I have a lot of questions I want answered and a lot of doubts I want reassured. I know everyone does too. After much worrying over my children being molested, me starving to death, catching bird/swine/panda flu, dying in war, etc... I realised, WHAT'S THE POINT?

I told my sister about my new diet and she was like, "Yesterday, I went to Subway and they asked me what sauce I wanted. I said - EVERYTHING". Hehe.

What I'm trying to say is, whatever we worry about.. it may or may not happen. If it does, it will come sooner or later. It's okay to be uncertain, it's okay to not have all the answers.

Wow, now that I'm reading it out loud - seriously, wtf was I worrying for.

i daydream. way too often. don't you?

i dream about what my life will be in 10 years. i dream about my wedding day: veil or no veil, 3 or 4 bridesmaids, garden wedding, church wedding?

i also dream about my funeral. it's not morbid, it's realistic. it's like a wedding, i'm going to be married someday, so it's a celebration of love. i'm going to die someday, why not imagine how my life will be celebrated? i'm not hoping to die, i just.. wonder what it'd be like. okay la after this post, i will touch wood ten times okay?

i want a garden after party (or funeral haha). no one is allowed to wear black and there must be cake. guests will be served my famous chicken soup (cos all moms gotta have a famous chicken soup) and playing in the background would be songs i listen to now. i hope for my children to sit around and talk about how much i used to annoy them, for them to realise later, how much they will miss me :)

i don't believe in resolutions but i make 'em anyway! it leaves me feeling shit at the end of the year thinking about how many of them i've actually kept. but since i always make them, i've come this far and my life doesn't entirely suck haha (it could be worse!).

i won't share them with you cos i'm too shyshyhushhusheyetoeye. also, i may not keep all of them and then i can't use my annual i never made such a ridonkulous resolution act, cos now you know and he knows and so does she. and we can't have that now, can we?

my advice: break your resolutions into small steps. studies show that people with goals as resolutions have a lower success rate compared to those who broke down these goals into separate stages. okay lah doesn't take a genius to figure that out but i didn't realise it myself until someone gave me that piece of advice himself and i was a bit skeptical about it, till i read about it in theguardian and theguardian knows all so my friend must be pretty smart then haha.

i'm not gonna pretend and say this year is gonna be different. i don't know about you but i'm always like on-fire-ready-to-goooooo after new years and then completely pfft-later-lah. so i decided this year.. is gonna be the same as last year and the year before that and the year before that. i sound like such a scrooge.

my point is: this year, i'm taking the back seat, i'm going to follow my feet.

Dear Malaysian Politicians,

Please stop the power chase, call for a truce and focus on the economy.

I do not claim to speak on behalf of all Malaysians, but I have strong convictions that many share my sentiments.

Our concern today is not who rules the country or heads the state governments but the looming bad economy.

Whether Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat leads, it is meaningless if Malaysians have no job to go to, no money to pay rent and no means to put food on the table.

I am a business owner, like other business owners and managers of corporations I have a responsibility to ensure people under my care and payroll continue to have jobs and a decent income to take home. We work hard and willing to go the extra mile to make sure our nation not only survive this crisis but come out stronger and wiser. We need your help.

Let me explain. I am in the business of Training, Development and Consultancy and have 20 people in my team.

Saedah is 42. She keeps the office clean and helps organise the training rooms. She has four children and her husband is unemployed. She was first hired on a part time basis, because she is very hard working and has a great attitude, we offered her a full time job to help provide a stable income for her family. Even then, when her third child started school this year, it was a struggle for her to buy new school uniforms and other necessities. Saedah lives on a ‘kais bulan, makan bulan’ basis, so, if she is jobless, her tap runs dry.

Samsuri is 27 years old. He lives with his sister and her family in a low cost government flat in Sunway. He does our despatch, helps with various clerical works and occasionally acts as a driver. During the first week at zubedy, we learned that he not only did not have money to buy new clothes and shoes for work, he had no money for lunch. Like Saedah, if he has no job, his tap runs dry too.

Alicia in Client Servicing turns 26 this year. She lives with her dad who is 71 years old and retired. Her mom passed away when she was little. Alicia is a hard-working team member, has a gentle caring outlook and fun to be with. (We like to poke fun at her as she blushes easily). Last May her dad went through a major operation, thank God he has recovered well. Alicia needs a job, both for herself and her dad.

Sudesh, 38, is one of our facilitators. When his father passed away last year, he moved back and lives with his mother in Seremban. He shuttles between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban daily, leaving home sometimes as early as 4 in the morning and returning late at night. He is no stranger to hard work and sacrifice, he knows what he needs to do to survive and to care for his mother, but he too needs a job.

Like fellow Malaysians, every one of us in zubedy needs employment, those that live from hand to mouth like Saedah and Samsuri and others like Alicia and Sudesh with family to care for. We Malaysians need the Malaysian economy to be strong. We need you, our leaders, to work hard and to work together to make our economy viable.

So this is my plea.

Pakatan Rakyat, please stop your attempts to take over the federal government and persuade BN’s lawmakers to join you. Stop all legal proceedings, no more 916 and let go, just let go. The nation can wait till the next general elections if they want change. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and gracious and give you their support in the next elections.

Barisan Nasional, please stop any attempts to take over PR states and win over PR’s lawmakers. You have proven your point with Perak. The nation can wait for the next general elections if they want your party. Focus all your talent, energy and hard work in steering the country out of an economic downturn. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and smart and give you their support in the next elections.

BN and PR! Call for a truce. Get together and compromise. Someone has to give in. Or has hate consumed your heart till it blinds you? You can do it. You have enough intelligent people between you. I am sure you can find solutions. Take the nation to heart. That is why you are in politics in the first place.

Focus on the people.

Recently I went to Nottingham for a day, to.. SHOP. Surprisingly enough, Nottingham's stuff were really SO CHEAP. And everyone there dresses so kookily, I was tempted to ask them where they got all their clothes from. I was so happy to see one of them at the store I went to visit, so I saved myself the embarrassment of having to ask :)

It was amazing. Super duper cheap stuff seriously. We went to 3 stores; Cow, Vintage Warehouse and Wild (if only we had more time...) A mountainous amount of clothes and bags, lines and lines of shoes and boots, buckets of braces and ties! IT WAS AMAZING.

I didn't buy THAT MUCH, my friend had like 4 bags and spent like £150. HAHA! THANK YOU JIE SHI FOR BEING CAMERAWOMAN AND FOR ORGANISING THE WHOLE THING!

Have you ever had those kind of dreams, where you wake up into another dream and then another and another? Well, yesterday, that's exactly how i felt, except it really wasn't a dream (although it sure felt like one). I was dreading school and feeling absobloominutely knackered after such a hectic weekend. First came the text messages, "eh got school ah?" and "all tube and bus not working wei". Then, came the highly anticipated email about cancelled lectures, followed by excited texts from my even MORE excited friends.

I walked outside and immediately smelled something different in the air. I didn't hear the sound of drilling from the water works outside my house, I didn't hear the sound of police cars speeding by. Usually I would put on my iPod to drown out the dreary sounds of London, but yesterday, that didn't seem necessary anymore. I wanted to listen to people who I'd normally roll my eyes at, like those stupid tourists who walk so damn slow during rush hour.

Businesses were predicted to lose about 2 billion pounds in total. Trains and planes, buses and tubes were all delayed. Schools were closed.

WHO. CARES.

I think we all needed a snow day. I didn't once think about the stupid credit crunch. I didn't think about homework. Why? Because it was okay not to do anything productive. It was okay to look silly and bring your skis to Hyde Park. It was okay to bring out the bob sleds, even though it was so cold your toes could fall off. It was okay to turn off your cell, so you could take your children out because you come home past their bedtime and leave for work before they're up for breakfast. No need for justification, no need to make excuses. It was okay.

Yesterday, Londoners put their feet up and went outside to play just like children do. Both young and old delighted in the splendour of this winter wonderland, making adult and child no different from one another.

I wouldn't ask for another snow day for the fear of losing memory of such a perfect day.

To the person God put in charge for the weather, thanks for the day off, whoever you are!

Yes, we, Mac users, think of ourselves very highly. We are converse-wearing, picture-taking, indie-music-obsessed snobs.

We often feel the need to advertise for Apple, be it their Macbooks, iPhones, iPods and whatever else Steve Jobs has got planned to take over the world. Exhibit A: recently, my flatmate's HP Notebook died-ed and I found myself constantly persuading her to buy a Mac. It went along the lines of "You'll never get virus wan, you know" and "It's not that hard to use, seriously" and "The white colour wan so niceeee".

And when we are not advertising, we wait for someone to talk about it, so we can prove how much we know about Apple products. It'll probably sound something like this, "iPhones have blablabla and its damn useful when you need to blablabla" and after every statement, you pause, as if letting your audience digest the awesomeness of THE iPhone and give them time to think "DAMN, this guy is so cool cos he uses an iPhone".

I must admit, when I take out my Macbook in public, I feel quite good about myself. When I see fellow Macbook users in public, I feel like we are somehow connected, like we're all part of a conspiracy that no one else knows about and in my head, I'll be like "oh yeah, that guy confirm damn cool wan". I know, quite sad right. But then, when I see a Macbook Pro, I stoop down 3 levels lah, so I do have a little bit of humility.

I find that when it comes to Apple stuff, you can either be a lover or a hater. There is no in between, just the two extremes. BUT, I shall sit my skinny butt on the fence and tell you that Apple's not that great. I recently came across an article about 25 reasons NOT to buy an iPhone, which deserves a read cos it is hee-lah-ree-us! Read it here.

MOVING ON, I read somewhere that the assumption that Napoleon Bonaparte was a short man is totally untrue. When he died, the autopsy recorded that he was 5 feet and 2 inches, which was in French feet not English feet. So if you convert it to the other, Napoleon Bonaparte was actually 5 feet 6 inches (which is actually taller than the average French man back in the day).

Yes, I read that section. Not in hopes that I'd be mentioned lah, but I love the smell of desperation. I love the idea of love at first sight. But most of all, I admire how hopeful they are.
